Closing our third programme – 'Act I-IV' – 1 Royal Terrace are proud to present 'Sub Plot' by designer Anthony Brotheridge.
Brotheridge will explore tailored garments in relation to Fine Art Installation, making use of his professional training as a trainee menswear tailor on Saville Row. Interested in the relationship between the two dimensional and three dimensional, Brotheridge will use traditional Tailoring and Cutting techniques in the creation of works exploring scenario, memory and absence. A first in his practice, this exhibition will mark the beginning of an ongoing exploration of the tailored form as a sculptural application as opposed to the fashion garment.
Brotheridge was appointed subject leader in Fashion at The Glasgow School of Art in September 2015 and previously held the position of Senior Lecturer in Fashion at Northumbria University. He has previously cut patterns for Geves and Hawkes, Saville Row and worked as a freelance pattern cutter for high profile London designers such as Hussein Chalayan, Richard Nicoll and McQ for Alexander McQueen.
